Amicus has the best-in-class promotion and price management tools in-built. The promo management in Amicus allows you to get an upsell on your product without deminishing the value of the product. For example, buy one for $2.50, buy 2 for $4; Most POS systems achieve this sort of thing by replacing the product with a speical product code which requires that the staff member is aware of the promo and remembers not to select/scan the items but to select/scan the promo instead; this approach is archaic and problematic. - Multi-buys. Eg, buy 'any' pie, get a coke for $2. Buy 'any' muffin and 'any' coffee for $5.
- Combo pricing. Eg, buy 'any' two pies for $5, buy 'any' 6 pies for $12.
- Time-slot pricing. Eg. get a bonus muffin between 2 and 4pm weekdays (and thereby encourage trade during slow periods).
- Promo-code pricing. Eg, bring in this promo voucher, then get the special (including combos like above).
- Rule based pricing. This is actually as flexible as you want it to be, pretty much anything you can imagine can be done. Eg staff get 10% discount on muffins after 11am.
- Plus many, many more.
- Amicus has a fully fledged, points-based, loyalty system built right in. Simple concept, customer gets a card (magnetic strip or barcode based), customer accrues points when they buy, when they reach enough points they get a voucher for store credit. You can have different points rules to do things like 'double points on this product line' or 'double points on Tuesday'. A customer loyalty system gives you a number of benefits:
- Create 'lock-in', i.e. the preception that the customer has something to loose by going somewhere else.
- The reward the customer recieves is a store credit voucher which has to be spent in your store anyway, and odds on they will buy more than the value of the voucher.
- It gives you detailed information on your customers which you can use to taylor your product offerings and promotions to get the edge.
- It gives you a reason to send communications to customers, perhaps by email, which opens a very valuable marketing stream you might not otherwsie have access to, which gives your customer another reason to come back.

You can put your promos in front of them, position your brand and increase customer retention - not to mention tap into impulse buying.
