If you require more than 3 licences you will need to purchase Standard Edition Licences. Amicus Lite Licences are not permitted to register more than one site (logical business unit), if you require more than one site you will need to purchase standard licences and additional site registrations.
Site Registrations
Amicus is a highly scaleable operationally focussed ERP system. One core feature of Amicus is that it has the ability to cope with multiple sites (a.k.a Logical Business Units) right at the core of the product in a highly flexible and adaptable way that our competition are yet to catch up with. In recognition of this fact, version 6.03 will introduce the requirement for site registration. To enable Amicus to be a competitively priced product given its suprior feature set, from version 6.03 onwards we include a single complimentary site registration with every customer registration (not per licence, per whole database registration so purchasing 5 terminal licences entitles the customer to only one complimentary site registration).
Additional site registration are charged at $999inc GST per site. This charge is introduced in version 6.03, customers who have a valid subscription as at the public release of 6.03 (anticipated in November 2010) are entitled to register any sites they can show proof of currently trading at free of charge. Customers who later purchase a subscription having let their original subscription lapse will be required to pay for additional sites in addition to their subscription fees.
Site registrations will require a registration code in addition to the activation code. Site names MUST include descriptive text of the location of the site such as the street and suburb of the premises. Neotechnology will at its own descretion ammend site registration names to fill this policy. Examples of acceptable site names are: 'Pitt Street Sydney', 'Aspendale, Melbourne'.
Customers have the option of including one additional site registration per database registration which can be used for a stock-room free of charge. Such a registration will only be granted where the preceeding text matches the primary site and text to the effect of 'STOCKROOM' is appended to the end of the stie name.
Purchasing Amicus POS Outright
Amicus licences purchased outright are perpetual for that version and edition. An outright purchase entitles the purchaser to updates for new features and bug fixes in a 12 month period from invoice date. Licences may be moved from one terminal to another so long as the software is removed from the original terminal first. The registration name on a licence can not be changed under any circumstances.
Upgrading Amicus POS Purchased Outright
In the 14 days post invoice, the purchaser may exchange their Amicus licences for licences of higher value for the difference in licence costs. The purchaser will be issued with an invoice crediting the purchase and incurring the charge for the new licence.
After the first 14 days post purchase, so long as the licence is within the first subscription period of 12 months, the licence can be upgraded to a higher value licence however only half of the original licence will be credited back. The purchaser will be issued with an invoice crediting half the original licence and incurring charge for the full amount of the new licence.
After the initial 12 months subscription, a purchaser will only be credited back the value of the unused prepaid subscription. For example, if you purchase 1 licence, pay for an additional year subscription then after 18 months decide to upgrade only the 6 months subscription will be credited back.
When upgrading a licence, the original subscription date stands.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions entitle the purchaser to updates and new features within the same edition during the subscription period. With Amicus Licences purchased outright, a 12 months subscription is included. After this time the purchaser has the option of renewing the subscription, normally charged at 25% of the new licence price per year. In the event that a purchaser does not renew a licence, if the purchaser then decides to renew they are required to pay the 25% of the current licence price per year for every year that has elapsed since the original subscription ended, i.e. the purchaser is required to bring the subscription up to date. In the event that licence costs rise, subscription renewal will always be charged at 25% of the current price. Subscriptions include the right to a version update only, any required labour associated with an upgrade incurs an additional cost. Version updates are not published publicly on the internet, you will need to contact customer support for an update.
Purchasing Additional Licences
If a purchaser later elects to purchase additional licences which should be operated on the same database (directly or by sync), they are either required to upgrade all existing licences to the latest version (incurring subscription costs normal) or accept the new licence at the original version. On purchasing a new licence, the new licence's subscription is brought into line with the existing subscription, this can either be done by paying a pro-rater subscription amount on the existing licences to commence a new 12 month period or it can be done by forfeiting some or all of the subscription period in the new licence. This is because all terminals running Amicus on one database must be the same version without exception.
Renting Amicus
Amicus can be rented on a 3 year contract term. The title of the licence never passes to the renter. The formula for rental is 2 * the purchase price / 36 = monthly fee. The renter is required to activate Amicus every 3 months, if rental fees are not paid on time the licence will not reactivate. So long as the rental period is current the renter is entitled to updates within the same edition as per a purchased subscription, normal labour costs for upgrades still apply. Rented licences can be upgraded to higher editions but not downgraded. Title of the rented licence is retained by Neotechnology at all time.
Amicus can also be purchased under a hire-purchase style agreement over 3 years. The formula in this instance is 3 * purchase price / 36 = monthly fee. The purchaser is required to activate Amicus every 3 months, if rental fees are not paid on time the licence will not reactivate. So long as the rental period is current the renter is entitled to updates within the same edition as per a purchased subscription, normal labour costs for upgrades still apply. Hire-purchased licences can be upgraded to higher editions but not downgraded. Title of the hire-purchased goods is only passed from Neotechnology to the customer upon receipt of the final payment.
All rentals and hire purchased licences come with complimentary email support and break-fix phone support while the rental agreement is on-going. Telephone support for non break-fix matters may be purchased in addition at the option of the customer.
