Fuel Process and Digital Signing
A lot of this week has been taken up getting the Amicus POS fuel software release ready. The point of sale software has interium certification and there were a few changes required to complete full certification. This includes rigorous testing.
One issue that was noticed by our tech staff was that on certain computers Amicus would start slowly. The delay was noticed in the time when the application was started (i.e. when the user double clicked the application) to when the splash screen came up. This should normally be almost instantaneous. However, for some reason this was being delayed on some machines on a client site. A bit of investigation showed that we could reproduce this affect if the machine could not connect to the digital signing servers to validate the digital signature of our software.
We have contacted VeriSign about this to see if we can find a way to satisfy the need of the computer without needing to connect to the Internet. Being a point of sale system, all of the terminals will be on a network, but whether they can access the Internet will depend greatly on the site itself. As soon as we find a solution, we will post it here.

Just a quick post to display our new supermarket POS database template. As you can see, lots of thought has gone into the layout of the buttons and images, each cascading down as required.
